Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup begins Thursday in Des Moines
Forty-eight regional championship youth soccer teams from across the country will converge in Des Moines on Wednesday for the U.S. Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup competition. Among the teams competing on July 8-11 at the Cownie Soccer Complex for a national title, Iowa Soccer’s 15U Boys team out of Cedar Rapids will be seeking its first national championship and is the only Iowa team to win a Midwest Regional Championship. The national championship event is expected to bring a $2.1 million economic boost to Greater Des Moines, according to Catch Des Moines. The 48 teams began their march to Des Moines in their home states by first winning their state Presidents Cup Championship. From there those teams advanced to one of the four regional championships with the regional champs punching a ticket to their shot at #CLAIMtheCUP at the National Presidents Cup Championship this summer.
