Youth Volunteer Corps of Des Moines, an affiliate of Youth Volunteer Corps, has been awarded the YVC Cornerstone Grant. The Des Moines affiliate is one of five to receive the grants from Youth Volunteer Corps as part of the largest grant in the Kansas City-based organization’s history. Grantees will each receive $20,000 from YVC to help them continue to build programs in their communities and reach more youth volunteers. YVC of Des Moines plans to use the grant to hire a part-time staff, provide funding for building-related projects and address barriers to participation faced by youth. Community Youth Concepts in Des Moines offers the YVC program for several Greater Des Moines high schools and middle schools. “We are thrilled for this opportunity to expand the YVC program and increase the impact that Des Moines-area students make in their communities,” said Amy Croll, CYC’s executive director.
