A $200,000 grant from Variety — the Children’s Charity will help fund the YSS Francis Lauer Building Hope Campus renovation in Mason City, which includes a new wellness center and updates to the Adolescent Residential Addiction Recovery Center for youth, YSS announced today. The campus renovation project has three remaining phases, including plans to update the education wing, and expand the behavioral health clinic and crisis intake center. Founded in 1976 as Iowa’s first emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth, YSS programs now provide treatment, prevention and child welfare services for more than 20,000 kids each year.
