Chris Conetzkey
Group Publisher of Business Publications Corp.
About me:
In May 2011 I rejoined the company and became the editor of the Business Record, before being promoted to publisher and executive editor in 2017. This is my second stint with the Business Record. Upon graduating with a journalism degree from Iowa State University in 2009, I worked as a Business Record reporter covering transportation and technology for about a year.
I’m back after a wonderful one-year stint in Florida as the editor and social media manager for ESPN’s College GameDay website. Leaving ESPN was one of the toughest decisions I’ve made, but the opportunity to be the editor of a publication and to learn about running a business from both Connie and Janette was too enticing to pass up. I’m excited to lead our staff and put out an engaging print product, while steering us as we continue to develop a presence with our online products.
I’m originally from Crystal Lake, IL., a northwest suburb of Chicago, and live for the Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks, and mostly die for the Cubs. I’m a Cyclones season ticket holder, and covered the ISU football and basketball teams in college as the sports editor at the Iowa State Daily. I also was the editor in chief as a senior and managed a staff of more than 100 students.
Currently I’m enjoying living in downtown Des Moines with my new wife Kaci Kohlhepp, who was born and raised in South Florida – she made the brave move with me to the north and it’s reported she thinks 60 degrees in late October is cold.
I’m here to serve the business community, so if you ever have questions, feedback or want to submit a story idea, please feel free to reach out directly to me. I’m always looking to learn more about business and I love meeting different people in the business community, so never hesitate to call or e-mail.
