Thursday is Social Media Day, and Social Media Club Des Moines is sponsoring events this week and accepting nominations for Hashie awards until Thursday. The Hashies celebrate and recognize Iowa businesses, organizations and agencies that have demonstrated social media marketing brilliance. Applicants can enter more than a dozen categories online. You can also tag posts on Twitter or Instagram with #HappySocialDay to win two free tickets to the Hashies ceremony at 6 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Jasper Winery, 2400 George Flagg Parkway. Also on Thursday, Social Media Club Des Moines and  Happy Medium are sponsoring a happy hour from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Hessen Haus, 101 Fourth St.
